Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) launches probe into JustEat and Takeway.com £6 Billion Merger
The competition watchdog will be assessing whether the merger could result in a substantial lessening of competition in the UK.
According to Takeaway, the probe will delay the takeover timetable by a week.
The last-minute announcement of the probe saw a 3% fall in shares on 24 January 2020.
If CMA approves the deal, the merger will create one of the largest food delivery companies in the world
Amazon files for pharmacy trademark in UK, Australia and Canada
Amazon US acquired PillPack in 2018 and rebranded it to “Pillpack by Amazon Pharmacy”.
This move may hint an expansion into a new industry.
The UK trademark application is currently labelled under examination.
If Amazon enters the UK market, its competitors will be online pharmacies like Pharmacy 2U.
Amigo Loans sees a fall in shares as it puts itself up for sale
Shares in Amigo fell more than 40% after making an announcement of putting Amigo up for sale
Amigo stated that it faces a “challenging operating environment” and highlighted concerns over the increased pressure on Amigo and “a continual evolution in the approach of the Financial Ombudsman Service”
RBC Capital Markets has been appointed as the financial advisor to review and advise on Amigo’s sale.
Amigo said it has not received any approaches for sale.
