Just Eat £9 billion merger with Takeaway.com
Just Eat is in talks with Takeaway.com for a possible merger.
The possible merger between the two food delivery companies will be structured as an offer for Just Eat by Takeaway.com.
Takeaway.com has until 24th August to announce a firm intention to bid for Just Eat.
The possible merger will give both companies a boost in the crowded food delivery market.
Mastercard £14 billion appeal over consumer rights claim to be heard at Supreme Court
The class action was originally brought by Walter Merricks who claimed that consumers have been charged excessive transaction fees when using a Mastercard credit or debit card.
Mastercard allegedly imposed unlawful fees for transactions between 1992 and 2008. The fees are paid by businesses for accepting payments made via a Mastercard card.
The Supreme Court has granted Mastercard leave to appeal against the class action.
WeWork plans to go public in September
The American company, WeWork aims for a share sale of USD 3.5 billion.
So far, UBER’s USD1.8 billion initial public offering (IPO) in May is the biggest IPO in 2019.
If WeWork’s IPO is USD 3.5 billion, it will be the second-biggest IPO of 2019.
New South Wales (NSW) to abolish decriminalise abortion
The archaic law set under the Crimes Act 1900 makes abortion a crime.
The Reproductive Healthcare Reform Bill 2019 decriminalises abortion and will be introduced to Parliament this week.
The Bill states that women will not commit an offence is she gets an abortion within the framework.
Mr.Greenwich stated that “The bill ensures women in NSW have access to safe and lawful terminations without the threat of criminal convictions and provides doctors with the legal clarity they have long sought.”
The move started from a campaign by NSW Pro-Choice Alliance to end the criminalisation of abortion. The campaign attracted 70% support from NSW residents.
